Taking a hot shower at the end of the day or at the beginning of a new day can be a highlight of our day. But what if that shower isn’t as hot as you would like for it to be? That could just make it unsatisfactory, or even uncomfortable. Even worse, quick, extreme temperature changes could be a nightmare, but for some homeowners, this happens, usually when someone uses water somewhere else in the house.

To fix this problem you might need to have a plumber take a look at the plumbing in your home. Sometimes these fluctuations could be due to a malfunctioning pressure-balancing valve, while others have a water heater that is just too old to keep a steady supply of hot water available.

Something that you can check for yourself if there just seems to be too much hot water is whether a shut-off valve has been partially turned. It could happen by mistake, or maybe your kids were playing around, not realizing what they were doing. If that is all there is to it, you could save yourself the expense of having a plumber’s visit.
